Earth Jams on the web                                                                      September 2008
Hello friends,

Summer has been a wonderful adventure in Maine.  Time has been spent tending our backyard garden and enjoying the veggies in salads, sauces and sumptuous stir fries. I've also been teaching at the Family Focus centers of Bath and Brunswick thanks to a Common Good Grant from Bowdoin College.

I've been recording my first album called, Hungry for the Sun, which will be available soon.  The album has original tunes and covers that celebrate our earth community and remind us what we can do to be upstanding earth community members.

There has also been a great sadness this summer due to the loss of our dear friend, Joel Cartwright.  A severe depression overwhelmed Joel despite the love and care of his family and friends.  If you think you might be depressed, please seek help and don't be ashamed about sharing your feelings.  There is help and there is hope.

Keep singing and smiling and read on for the latest Earth Jams news.
Love, Matt

The third-Friday Brunswick Contradance Series takes place each month at the People Plus Center. The family dance is great for families with young children and beginners to contradancing and the regular contradance steps up the pace. All dances are taught. Benefits Merrymeeting Community Shares. Put on your boogie shoes and grab your friends and family for a night of cutting-the-rug!  Spread the word about the dance.  Bring clean shoes for dancing please to save the dance floor from grit.

Merrymeeting Community Shares is an all-ages skill sharing program of the People Plus Center. Our mission is to create caring community, value every individual equally, and share our time, our services and ourselves. We believe in inclusiveness, equality, interdependence, and community…and we like to have a good time while we are at it!
