"Save the Water Animals"
Marcia Buker Elementary 3rd and 4th
Listen.mp3

Flying fish, jelly and a guppy too
Leaches, octopus and algae goo
Pollution in the water is horrible
Gonna kill the water creatures
Who are adorable.

Big bass gets stuck in the oil
Along swims a leach
Sucks the blood of the poisoned fish
They're both washed up on the beach.

Dirt, mud, trash, chemicals and gas
Nutrients and acid rain
Makes life hard for the animals
Who live in Maine
Pick up trash, and car pool
Check for leaks in your car.
Save water, take a walk, plant some plants
And clean off the tar.

Oh save the water animals.

"Take Me Out on the Ocean"
To the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" Marcia Buker Elementary 3rd and 4th
Listen.mp3

Take me out on the ocean
Take me out on the waves
Sharks, seals, puffer fish, dolphins too
Hope they don't swim into oily goo
Soggy, salty and sandy
Make rainbows and there is motion
Great for surfing on boards
Out on the ocean

"Go Outside With Care"
To the tune of "Do Your Ears Hang Low" Marcia Buker Elementary 3rd and 4th
Listen.mp3

Go outside with care
Feel the power in the air
Hear the whistle of the wind
as it messes up your hair
Oh it feels like a shower
It can go on for an hour
Go outside with care

Water freezes into hail
It's as heavy as a whale
It is called precipitation
You can put it in a pail
Oh the lightning makes a flash
And the thunder makes a crash
Water freezes into hail

"Ice" to the tune of "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer" Dresden Elementary 4th and 5th
Listen.mp3

Ice is so shiny and glossy
Slippery and it can melt
And if the ice is strong enough
You can go skating and smelt.
I watch the penguins sliding
On expanded frozen ice
It is as clear as glass
If you fall you'll pay a big price

It is very delicate
And it cools your drinks
But when the ice breaks
You'll be frozen in the lakes
Underneath a frog sleeps
You can find a big fat otter
Even the plants are growing
Deep down in the freezing water.

"Cold, Wet Blues"
Marcia Buker Elementary 3rd and 4th
Listen.mp3

Snow is so cold
Sugar in a bowl
Snow is so nice
Sliding on ice
Door is stuck shut
I fall on my butt
At 32 degrees
It's too cold for me

Well the earth is asleep with a nice white sheet
I'm gonna build a snow fort
Breaking ice is really nice
Boat's can't dock at the port

Melting ice in spring
I hear the birds sing
Water down the drain
Mixes with rain
I got the blues
I got the cold, wet blues

"The Toilet Cycle"
Dresden Elementary 4th and 5th
Listen.mp3

Oh oh the toilet cycle
Oh oh the toilet cycle
Oh oh the toilet cycle

When you flush it down it makes a whirlpool
It goes down down through the pipes
To the water treatment plant
It filters out the sewage types

They add chemicals and skim the top
And to the river it goes
Splash, churn, crash, gurgle and swish
And if you're lucky you'll see rainbows

Oh oh the toilet cycle
Oh oh the toilet cycle
Oh oh the toilet cycle

Sometimes it goes to the septic tank
Buried underneath your yard
Clean it out every four years
It is not that hard

If you don't it could overflow
Or maybe start to leak
It could go down in the ground water
Or make a polluted creek

Oh oh the toilet cycle
Oh oh the toilet cycle
Oh oh the toilet cycle

"It All Starts With the Sun"
By 4th grade at Bowdoinham Elementary School
    listen.mp3

It all starts with the sun.
It's where the food web's begun.

Energy to plants.
Photosynthesis dance.

Next comes the caterpiller.
Crawling on the leaves.

It's because of the caterpiller
That I don't have any peas, (in my garden)

Quail swooping down to steal
A caterpiller meal

The quail doesn't last long.
Starving fox comes along.

Here comes the end of this tune.
A tale as old as the moon.

"Recycle"
By 3rd grade at Bowdoinham Elementary School
listen.mp3     listen.wav

You can recycle, plastic, paper, glass and cardboard,
Wood, food, rubber and cans.
The recycling barn will compact and reuse it
But it needs your helping hands.

When you go to the store you've got to buy products made with recycled things.
Bottles, boxes, paper bags, cans, roads, rubber bands
Bikes and clothing

Gotta help the earth stay strong
Before something more goes wrong
So the world can live long and
Stay strong.

The following verses are written to the tune, "I Wish I Were a Little Sugar Bun."

I wish I were a little elf.
I wish I were a little elf.
I would make the toys all shine
And then they would be mine.
If I were a little elf.

I wish I were a little hamburger
I wish I were a little hamburger
First I would get fried
And between two buns I'd hide
If I were a little hamburger.

I wish I were a sled.
I wish I were a sled.
I would slide down hills
And I would get chills,
If I were a sled.

I wish I were an apple.
I wish I were and apple.
I would change pretty colors,
And be eaten by my mother.
If I were an apple

I wish I were a trampoline.
I wish I were a trampoline.
Kids would start to jump
And they come down with a thump.
I wish I were a trampoline.

I wish I were a butterfly.
I wish I were a butterfly.
I would always like to fly.
People would wave, "Hi."
If I were a butterfly.

I wish I were a little flying fish.
I wish I were a little flying fish.
I would swim and I would glide
When I'm caught I would be fried.
If I were a little flying fish.

I wish I were a big white tailed deer.
I wish I were a big white tailed deer.
I would jump and I would die.
Then I would be fried.
If I were a big white tailed deer.

I wish I were a little fish.
I wish I were a little fish.
I would eat from a dish,
And I would say, "delish"
If I were a little fish.

More "Sugar Bun" verses:

I wish I were a cat.
I wish I were a cat.
I would like to run,
And I would be fun.
If I were a cat.

I wish I were a bee.
I wish I were a bee.
I would eat lots of honey
Just like a bunny
If I were a bee.

I wish I were a bear.
I wish I were a bear.
I would scratch a bee
And scratch a tree
If I were a bear.

I wish I were a frog.
I wish I were a frog.
I would play all day
And go to the hay
If I were a frog.

"Food Chain"
Listen.wma    Listen.wav
To the tune of "Hush Little Baby"

Green little algae floating in the sea
Mini krill eat them one, two, three.

But if the krill don't watch their back
Bigger anchovies will attack.

The anchovies better watch out
Because the salmon will come out.

If the salmon don't beware
The shark will give them a really big scare.

If the sharks don't watch their tails
They're gonna end up on a scale.

A tasty dinner on a boat
Put on a life jacket so you float.

If a shark comes remember this song,
Because the food chain goes on and on.
